We are delighted to bring you Bertha-lele 2017!
This is part of the Irish Gin & Tonic Fest 2017 which runs from 25 June to 01 July 2017. The Irish Gin & Tonic Fest is a nation-wide celebration of Irish Craft Gin & Tonic with gin-related events taking place in venues up and down the country. Our contribution will be to host Bertha tipples, Ukulele tunes and dinner at Ballyvolane House on Saturday, 01 July 2017.
This June, Justin’s son Toby (aged 16) and a group of classmates are heading to Armenia for two weeks during their summer holidays with Habitat for Humanity. They will be building houses in some of the most deprived areas of the country which are in urgent need of basis housing. In order for this to happen, he has to raise €2,500. As part of his fundraising effort, we will be hosting a long-table lunch, Bertha tipples and a stroll around the gardens with Jeremy Green (Toby’s grandpa) at Ballyvolane House on Saturday, 13 May 2017.
The swallows are back, the gardens at Ballyvolane House are looking glorious, Bertha’s Revenge Gin is reaching new shores, our glamping opens in May, the salmon fishing is up and running, the wedding season is just about to start and we are looking forward to welcoming travellers from home and abroad to Ballyvolane House over the busy summer period.
Lots going on during the next few months and the highlight in May is a Charity Fundraiser Long-Table Lunch and Garden Tour in aid of Habitat for Humanity.
We were delighted to have taken part in the Irish Craft Gin workshop at the West Waterford Festival of Food at the gorgeous Merry’s Gastropub in Dungarvan yesterday afternoon. Gin distillers from Blackwater Distillery, Glendalough and Listoke were sharing their delicious and differing styles of gin with an enthusiastic audience.
Really looking forward to this event. Promises to be a fantastic night all in support of a very deserving cause.

Cork Young Entrepreneurs Networking Event organised by the Local Enterprise Office South Cork will be held on Friday, 3rd February 2017 at Ballyvolane House. Justin Green will talk about the story behind Bertha’s Revenge Gin, a recent entrant to the craft gin scene and making a big splash, and how they have grown sales to date.
Cork-based entrepreneur Pat Lynch will give a presentation on the night with some valuable insights into how to successfully maximise sales.
We are proud and delighted to announce the birth of our second calf Sloe Bertha.
Sloe Bertha - a warming tipple made by infusing wild sloes with Bertha’s Revenge Gin. The wild sloe berries are picked from the hedgerows around Ballyvolane House and beyond, when they ripen in the autumn. We then steep them in Bertha’s Revenge Gin for several months and add some sugar syrup at the end to sweeten.
Listen back to Antony, Peter Mulryan of Blackwater Distillery and Emily Cox of The Shed Distillery chatting with Bobby Kerr of Newstalk FM’s ‘Down to Business’ about the rise and rise of Irish craft gin. Cracking show - thank you Bobby!
