Happy Happy Xmas!
We would like to thank all our friends, followers, customers, suppliers, state agencies and colleagues for all the wonderful support we received during 2019. We look forward to sharing Bertha love and expanding into new territories in 2020. We distilled batch #1000 just before Xmas and it has been a fascinating, fun, challenging at times and an enriching gin journey since we launched in 2015.
We would like to raise a glass to you all. Happy happy Xmas!
Best Bertha wishes,
Justin & Antony

Bertha's Revenge Sloe Gin
Sloe Bertha - a warming tipple made by infusing wild and cultivated sloe berries with Bertha’s Revenge Gin. We steep them in Bertha’s Revenge Gin for several months and then add sugar syrup at the end to sweeten. A bit like a good dog, Sloe Bertha is a welcome companion when taking to the great outdoors over the winter. A few sips of Sloe Bertha will renew flagging enthusiasm when cold, wet and watching a match from the sidelines.
Equally, it will serve to gird the loins when facing the final hill of the day. Away from the sporting field, Sloe Bertha is a key ingredient in our Hedgerow Martini. ⌗sipsensibly

Irish Pubs Association of Germany Silver Award for Bertha
We travelled down to McDermott’s Pub in beautiful Doolin on the wild west coast of Ireland for the Irish Pub’s Association of Germany (IPAG) annual general meeting. The IPAG invited a number of Irish craft gin distillers to showcase their gins to the members. The IPAG held a blind taste test on the day and we were delighted that Bertha won Silver. Thank you!

Georgina Campbell 'Country House of the Year 2020' for Ballyvolane House
Ballyvolane House (the home of Bertha’s Revenge Gin) is the Georgina Campbell ‘Country House of the Year 2020’. We are chuffed to bits with this award and it recognises the hard work and dedication of our fantastic team working here with us. Thank you Georgina, we have been celebrating!
Citation from Georgina Campbell:
“Justin and Jenny Green are the current custodians of this gracious 1728 mansion. Surrounded by its own farmland and magnificent wooded grounds, it has wonderful gardens (domain of Justin’s father, Jeremy), a trout lake and salmon beats on the River Blackwater, it’s also known for contemporary charms - glamping (bell tents or the pig ark!), an atmospheric wedding venue and even their own gin, the famed Bertha’s Revenge. Justin and Jenny are an extremely hospitable couple, committed to continuing the standards of hospitality, comfort and food and drink for which this lovely and fun-filled house is renowned - and recent guests Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall obviously enjoyed it, as you can see from their framed letter of thanks in the drawing room.”

Georgina Campbell Irish Food & Hospitality Awards 2020
We are over the moon to be shortlisted for a Georgina Campbell Irish Food & Hospitality Award 2020.
Ireland’s longest-running, independent Irish food and hospitality awards, in association with AIB, will celebrate 21 years under the current branding (plus a good few more before that!), with a gala event at the InterContinental Hotel in Dublin on Sunday, 15th September, with special guest, Richard Corrigan.
This year’s Georgina Campbell Irish Food & Hospitality Awards have a particular focus on celebrating Ireland’s talented industry pioneers; those who laid the quality foundations that have made Ireland’s food tourism and hospitality journey such a vivid success story (many of whom are still leaders today), and the new pioneers who are doing the same thing for its future.
