Ode to a Kerry Cow - RTE Archives 1986
Bertha, feted as the oldest cow in Ireland and renowned for producing 39 calves, Kerry’s most famous cow ‘Big Bertha’ has also been celebrated in verse.
The epic poem centres upon Big Bertha’s achievements and accomplishments, recounting her story from when she was bought on St Patrick’s Day at a cattle fair in Sneem by farmer Jerome O’Leary, to the time when she acquired her celebrity status.

Sloe Bertha
We are proud and delighted to announce the birth of our second calf Sloe Bertha.
Sloe Bertha - a warming tipple made by infusing wild sloes with Bertha’s Revenge Gin. The wild sloe berries are picked from the hedgerows around Ballyvolane House and beyond, when they ripen in the autumn. We then steep them in Bertha’s Revenge Gin for several months and add some sugar syrup at the end to sweeten.

Ireland's Best Gin is Made Out of Milk
‘Ireland’s Best Gin is Made Out of Milk’ by Berlin based blogger Elizabeth Rushe writing for Munchies…
When you live in an Irish city that neighbors the world’s oldest cow, who was also awarded not one but two Guinness records, a cow who birthed 39 calves in her 48 years on this planet, you better name your newly founded milk gin after her. Bertha was an overachieving Irish cow: She even managed to have been born on St. Patrick’s Day, and also helped to raised thousands of dollars for cancer research with her cow-lebrity appearances at cattle fairs during her lifetime.
And now there is a gin named after her—a spicy Irish sup, the first of its kind, the grass-to-glass Bertha’s Revenge Irish Milk Gin.

Munster Wine & Dine Circle
We hosted the Munster Wine & Dine Circle here last Sunday for a tour of the distillery followed by a spot of lunch afterwards. It was a cold by sunny day, the crowd was enthusiastic and fun and a Bertha tipple added a little colour to the cheeks. Here is a lovely account of the day by Cork Billy in his blog. Thank you MWDC for coming and thanks to Billy Lyons for blogging. We really enjoyed having them all here.
